|
Choose a passage (10-25 lines) in either the Oresteia of Aeschylus or the Electra of Sophocles that struck you in some way. (You found it interesting, peculiar, problematic, striking, etc.) Then: Select at least one image (and no more than two) from among:ancient Greek representations of Electra (either by herself or with others);Roman representations of Electra;the paintings of Electra by Wicar, Leighton, and Richmond;funerary lekythoi; orgrave stelai. Then: Discuss the relationship between your passage and the image. The relationship can be one of contrast or complementarity; or you can argue that the image functions as a comment on the text. |
