On this map of Athens and its suburban area, each of the circles represents a deme, with the difference in size correlating to the size of the deme, and the difference in color correlating with the tribe to which the members of the deme belonged.

Socrates' deme, Alopeke, was one of the largest, exceeded in size only by Kydathenaion. The members of Alopeke belonged to the tribe of Antiochis.

The location of Meletus' deme, Pithos, is unknown. Its members belonged to the tribe of Kekropis, and its size was about one-third that of Alopeke.
