Judicial Procedure IV
|
|
| After the speeches, each juror was given two ballots
(psephoi), one with a hollow center (for the prosecution) and one
with a solid center (for the defense). Each juror, holding the ballot so
that the center was concealed, dropped one ballot into a box which was
valid, and the other into a box which was invalid. If the verdict was guilty,
then a second round of balloting decided between the penalties proposed
by the two sides. |
