Class today meets from 11-12:20. Monday class October 9 (Yom Kippur) meets from 11-11:50, and is a practice session devoted to reviewing for the Hour Exam on Wednesday, October 11.  (The same material will be covered in Tuesday night's practice session.)

Assignment for today:

1. Read and translate RG 1ij using Vocabulary for Section One E (GVE pp. 8-9); go over the translation several times so that we can move through it quickly in class.

2. Learn vocabulary for 1ij using website lists; practice both Greek to English (1ij) and English to Greek (1ijrev).

3. Learn present active indicative and imperative of oida (GVE p. 21, #19; for imperative see GVE p. 282); practice using morphology web site for oida, eimi (be) and eimi (go).

4. Complete Workbook Exercise 11 (oida; sentences). Write in .

5. Background Reading in WA: review H.I.12-13; pp. 10-12; study on-line "The Battle of Marathon (490 B.C)" section on Dr. J's Illustrated Persian Wars.
